Dear Toki Community,
We are waiting with as much anticipation as you for what the fall will hold. Either way, you have nearly 100 Toki staff members who will be here for you and your children.
At Toki, we have been engaging regularly in conversations and learning so that we ensure anti-racist teaching practices, opportunities for student voice and leadership, and restorative justice. We will continue to build a school where ALL students thrive- especially our Black students, students of color, and students who our system has historically failed. We will continue to raise the bar for our students and for ourselves. An example of this is starting in 2020-21, at Toki, all incoming 6th graders will be taking our 6/7A math class, putting them on the path to take Algebra their 8th grade year.
We have what it takes at Toki to be the place you are all proud to send your children. Toki staff would do anything for our community, and there has been so much evidence of that, especially this past year. We can’t do this work without you. Please take a moment to check out our Toki website, featuring our Toki staff, a virtual tour of our building (our new Welcome Center is currently under construction!), and some other fun information. In addition, here are some helpful Toki community resources for now and moving forward. This summer, we will also be offering Toki Talks each Monday at 2pm, to help keep our Toki Community connected and to support the social-emotional needs of our students. Incoming 6th graders and outgoing 8th graders are also welcome to join any Monday they wish.
Have a great summer, make sure your children keep reading, and we’ll see you real soon.
